bryant: Hey i was wondering how to solve this problem? Oct 4, 2013 6:47:51 GMT -8
bryant: The problem is number 5 on our sec 8.2 homework. Lim as x approaches pi/2 of (3secx + 5)/tanx, i rewrote the equation as Lim as x approaches pi/2 of [ (3/cosx) + 5] / (sinx/cosx) but the denominator turns to zero when the limit is applied. Any ideas? Thanks Oct 4, 2013 6:52:51 GMT -8
simonanuszczyk: Use l'hopitals rule. Take the derivative of the top/the derivative of the bottom. At this point you should have lim as x approaches pi/2 of (3secxtanx)/sec^2. cancel a secx. Transform tanx/secx to sinx. Next, apply the limit. You get: 3. Oct 8, 2013 11:57:29 GMT -8
